STRANDED MOTORIST: WARM SPRINGS WILDERNESS AREA
Early Sunday (6/21) morning, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call for help from the family of two men who had not returned from recreating on a sandrail vehicle. The two adult males (55-years old and 66-years old) had gone out the previously evening for a short trip near the Warm Springs Wilderness Area. At some point, they had contacted the family indicating they had a flat tire, their phones batteries were almost dead and that they needed help. They had no spare tire or supplies, but stayed with the vehicle – as they could not physically hike out to safety. Search and rescue was activated and began a route and location search in the area. They were located and were brought back to safety. Great job by everyone involved! Search and rescue encourages everyone to travel with multiple vehicles and to bring plenty of supplies – including water, food, medications, phone chargers and spares parts or tools for emergencies that may be encountered while recreating. Emergencies are never planned. Be safe out there!
